Accounting Interns: School Review Engagements
Dakarai Accounting & Advisory is recruiting accounting interns for its 2027 review engagements of public schools in the Bushbuckridge area. Gain hands-on experience reviewing school financial records under the supervision of a Chartered Accountant (SA).

About the role
Interns will work as part of the engagement team during the fieldwork period, February to June 2027. This is a learning opportunity for matriculants and young people who want a practical start in accounting and assurance work.
Responsibilities
Reconcile invoices and supporting documents to the school's bank statements
Verify the completeness and accuracy of transactions captured in the income statement
Confirm that recorded income and expenses are complete and accurate
Review governing body minutes, asset registers and approved budget schedules
Document work performed and findings clearly for review by the Engagement Manager
Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
Computer literacy, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Knowledge of basic accounting principles
Strong attention to detail
High ethical standards and integrity
Professional skepticism: willing to ask questions and test what is presented
Curiosity about using AI tools to work more efficiently where practical
Who may apply

Declaration of independence. Interns must declare any relationship that could affect their objectivity, including a family member employed at, or serving on the governing body of, a school under review. Interns will not be assigned to a school where such a relationship exists. Any new relationship must be disclosed to the Engagement Manager as soon as it arises.
